An invasion of Taiwan would be a “high-risk” operation for China, says former Liberal MP Dave Sharma.
Mr Sharma said Russia was able to invade Ukraine on three fronts which meant there were “no particular chokepoints” and supply lines weren’t “overextended”.
“China only has one option against Taiwan if it wants to engage in military conflict and that’s an amphibious operation probably with you know a couple of points of landing at best,” he said.
“It’s not even going to be like the D-Day landings where the Germans could be fooled into thinking the landing was happening on one part of the French coast and it in fact happened on the other enormity.
“The Chinese won’t even have that option.”
